Company Profile | Southern Pulp Machinery (Pty) Ltd
This South African designed and built machinery has become world renowned since 1992 with the SPM 2100 rotary molder being widely regarded as the well priced, robust and efficient industry workhorse.
Standard machine sizes offer hourly production rates of 2100 to 14000 65 gram egg trays, or the equivalent in other products. Molders can be installed in various combinations with common stock preparation facilities if so required. Product depths of up top 200mm are standard for all molders. All molding lines are P.L.C. controlled and are fully automatic with each function capable of adjustment from a central control panel. The entire plant can be installed on a conventional flat concrete factory floor and no additional structural provisions are normally required.
SPM will willingly assist clients with advice on product and mold choice. High-quality tooling for a large variety of product types is available.
SPM follows a rigid design philosophy which dictates that all equipment is manufactured using only the best materials, is easily serviceable and is capable of being repaired in an average engineering shop using parts which are locally available. This approach reduces the operators dependence on the machinery supplier and allows shorter downtime periods for repairs and maintenance which are undertaken at a much reduced cost. All wetted parts are manufactured from 304 stainless steel, while all brand name components are acquired from reputable multi-national suppliers who have adequate representation in the clients home country.
SPM equipment is sold on a Turnkey basis with each plant individually tailored to the clients specific circumstances. All equipment is designed and manufactured in Cape Town, South Africa from where it is shipped to the clients premises for installation and commissioning by SPM's technicians.
Machinery has been installed in South Africa, Japan, France, USA, Mexico, Scotland, Poland, Morocco, Syria and Zimbabwe amongst others. A typical installation would take six months from date of order to final commissioning.
All plant PLC’s are linked via internet to SPM’s computers in Cape Town for on-line trouble-shooting. In addition to the standard one year warranty against defective workmanship or materials the company also undertakes to make travel arrangements for a qualified technician within 24 hours of notification of any serious breakdown.
Prospective clients are welcome to visit SPM's modern workshop facilities. Excursions to various pulp molding facilities will be arranged so that visitors may view equipment in operation and gain first-hand impressions of the equipment and hear operators opinions of SPM's level of service and its machinery.
